What to expect

It is important for clients to understand that a professional reflexologist, does not diagnose or claim to cure illness – our aim is to assist the body to rebalance, encouraging self-healing to take place.  I may ask some clients to seek medical advice prior to the session if there are any concerns about the suitability of reflexology for an individual, as reflexology is not a substitute for conventional medical treatment where that is required.

Reflexology feels like a foot massage, but it is much more than that.  I apply pressure to the foot 'reflexes' using thumbs, fingers and knuckles in a sequence of specific movements.  This is not painful or ticklish, but feels very relaxing and many of my clients drift off into a light sleep.  Some people prefer to chat - it is your time to relax in your own way and enjoy the down time.

We will take a few moments after the session to discuss aftercare.  Some clients ask 'What did you find?' or 'What did my feet tell you?'  I really disapprove of over claiming or promising benefits and prefer clients to know that it is their own body response that is making them feel great.

My approach is simply to provide the reflexology based on the information disclosed to me, and then let each individual discover the benefits for themselves.  This will certainly be an immediate feeling of relaxation, reduced stress and most clients report better mood and sleep, reduced symptoms and improved overall wellbeing.
